5 Laws That'll Help The Item Upgrader Industry
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats. Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount. Item Level When an item gets upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded. It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. The average item level can be found in the character sheet. When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the item level. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the item's level. The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat. There are a few theories about how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is typically close to Blizzard's real level of the item. This is not the only factor that influences the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl. Item Stats The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn boosted by the player's level. The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices. Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item extra damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item. All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods. In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a raid boss. Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time. Item Luck A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains. In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing. Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140. Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created with the right ingredients. Item Failure Item upgrades are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it fails. When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.. The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5%. Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
